Diane Giraud is a French visual artist of Vietnamese and Greek descent whose interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, sound, text, installation and performance. Her work explores freedom and the construction of meaning in environments where knowledge is fragmented, mediated or politically contingent.

Born and raised in Paris, she trained in Corporate Law at Université Paris X Nanterre before studying Fashion Design Technology at the University of the Arts London. After more than a decade working as a fashion designer in London and Paris, she established her visual arts practice in Lisbon in 2015. Her multidisciplinary background continues to shape an approach that brings equal attention to language, material, form and the systems through which knowledge is constructed, interpreted and preserved.

Between 2019 and 2023, she founded and directed IN LIMEN, a platform for participatory live performance in Portugal. Her work has been presented by institutions including Culturgest, the Museu de Lisboa – Teatro Romano and the National Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon, and developed through PADA Studios. In 2025–2026, she was invited to participate in The Wrong Biennale, and in 2026 joined Sobremesa: Vagaries of Palette, a Creative Europe cooperation project, as visual artist and artistic consultant.

In 2026, Giraud undertook Partial Archives, Surviving Forms, an artistic research project supported by the European Union through the Culture Moves Europe programme and hosted by Musée Cernuschi in Paris. Developed in dialogue with the collections and research of Musée Guimet, Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, and researchers at IRCAM – Centre Pompidou, the project examined Vietnamese material culture through museum collections, acquisition histories, conservation practices and sound research.
